Muscat – The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Directorate General of Khoula Hospital, launched a year-long health campaign on Tuesday to promote community awareness under the slogan ‘Your Health Matters to Us’. The campaign will target several government and private institutions to advance health prevention concepts, reduce the spread of diseases and promote sustainable healthy lifestyles among members of society.

The campaign was inaugurated by H E Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health. Organisers say it focuses on prevention, early detection of disease and the adoption of positive health behaviours. Activities include lectures, field check-ups and distribution of educational materials designed to reach different segments of society.

The campaign addresses a range of health issues prevalent in the community, with screening and awareness on obesity, diabetes and endocrine disorders. It also promotes regular medical check-ups, blood sugar control and the prevention of complications linked to chronic diseases.

Other elements include dietary guidance, education on food–drug interactions and awareness on responsible use of antibiotics. First-aid training for sports injuries and physical activity, as well as education on osteoporosis and spinal injuries, are also part of the campaign.

A dedicated foot-care corner highlights the prevention of complications among diabetic patients, while specialised first-aid sessions train participants to respond to fainting, strokes, burns and nosebleeds.

Family health is another focus, with awareness on premarital medical examinations, fertility services and safe childbirth programmes. The campaign also promotes early detection of cervical cancer and eye health under the message that vision care is a shared responsibility.

Organ donation awareness forms part of the outreach, with organisers emphasising its humanitarian value and role in saving lives.

Field visits to institutions will provide blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index checks, along with direct consultations from medical staff.

Dr Iman bint Abdullah al Hinai, Head of the Therapeutic Nutrition Department at Khoula Hospital and Chairperson of the Organising Committee, said the campaign aligns with national priorities on preventive care and supports the health goals of Vision 2040. She said activities will follow a set timeline, with designated days for each specialty to ensure wider benefit and allow participants to seek medical guidance.
