Sweden – The Nordic region has been struck by a severe low-pressure system, resulting in at least two fatalities in Sweden as Storm Johannes sweeps across Scandinavia.

The extreme weather has caused widespread disruption across Sweden, Norway, and Finland, leaving thousands of households without power and severely impacting travel infrastructure. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute issued red alerts for hurricane-force winds in northern regions, while Finnish authorities reported that over 120,000 homes lost electricity, particularly in western districts. Aviation was also heavily affected, with Kittila airport in northern Finland forced to suspend operations after gale-force winds pushed aircraft into snowbanks on the runways.
