Muscat – The Ministry of Health has announced amended blood donation timings during Ramadan, urging members of the public to support national blood banks amid a seasonal shortage.
According to the ministry, the Central Blood Bank in Bausher will operate daily from 7pm to 11:30pm throughout Ramadan, allowing donors to contribute after breaking their fast.
The Seeb Blood Donation Centre (Al Araimi Boulevard) will receive donors Sunday to Thursday between 7pm and 11:30pm.
In addition, the Central Blood Bank in Bausher will provide special timings for non-fasting donors from Sunday to Thursday, 12pm to 8pm.
The ministry called on citizens and residents to take advantage of the flexible evening hours during Ramadan, stressing that regular blood donations are vital to maintaining adequate supplies for emergency cases, surgeries and patients with chronic conditions.
Health officials reiterated that donating blood is a safe process and can help save lives, particularly during the holy month when demand typically rises while donor turnout declines.
