MUSCAT : Grand Hyatt Muscat is proud to announce the promotion of Chef Alaa Eddin Al Dakkak as Head Chef since October 2021.

Originally from Syria, Chef Alaa started his hotelier journey at the young age of 15 years while studying in a hotel and tourism school and college. He has worked in five countries around the world and has more than 22 years of international experience working in various restaurants such as Damascus Gate, as well as multiple hotel groups like Le Meridien, Sheraton, JW Marriott and Dhanat resorts. 

Chef Alaa joined Grand Hyatt Muscat in 2011 as Middle Eastern specialty chef in Banquets and got promoted to Chef de cuisine with his passion and hard work. He was instrumental in designing the highly successful and celebrated Wedding menus catering to Arabic, Indian and Mediterranean with European twist and the signature brunches and Ramadan Iftar menus at Grand Hyatt Muscat. With his extreme passion for fine food and flavors, Chef Alaa got promoted as Executive Sous Chef to lead eight outlets including award-winning Tuscany & Mokha Cafe, five board rooms and 1,000 sq m of ballroom space, and worked his way up as Head Chef at Grand Hyatt Muscat.

Chef Alaa prides himself on a unique cooking style of traditional Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavor. Alaa attributes his passion for cooking and his first kitchen experiences to his mother before stepping on to his international journey. He will be targeting in developing new concepts within Grand Hyatt Muscat ‘s diverse and glocal culinary offerings. 

When not working, Alaa likes to spend time with his family, travelling and loves outdoors activities & sports such as horse-riding, basketball and swimming. He also spends his leisure time exploring and learning the cultures of different countries as he believes that the culinary world is an endless journey with something new to learn every day.
