Muscat – Al Nahda Club has been crowned champions of His Majesty the Sultan’s Football Cup for the 2025/2026 sporting season, marking the second time the Buraimi-based side has lifted the prestigious trophy. The highly anticipated final, held on Saturday evening at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher, saw Al Nahda secure a 2-0 victory against Oman Club in front of a capacity crowd and senior officials.
The match shifted in Al Nahda’s favour during the first half when Oman Club was reduced to ten men following a red card for Mohammed al Maashari. Capitalising on the numerical advantage, Al Nahda broke the deadlock just before the interval through a header by Andres Oxnes, which was initially recorded as a defensive deflection. Despite a spirited attempt by Oman Club to reorganise in the second half, Al Nahda remained disciplined and sealed the championship in stoppage time. Mohammed al Ghafri scored the decisive second goal in the 91st minute, clinical finishing that sparked jubilant celebrations among the green-clad supporters.
The trophy was presented to the winning squad by H H Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham. This victory adds a second star to Al Nahda’s history, following their maiden title in 2023, and reaffirms their status as a dominant force in Omani football.
