Muscat: According to statistics released by the National Center for Statistics and Information, the number of visitors to Al Jabal Al Akhdar in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate reached 222,151 between January and the end of December 2025, compared with 203,629 visitors during the same period in 2024, an increase of 9.1 percent.

Omani nationals accounted for 82,142 visitors last year, while visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council also contributed to the growth. Saudi visitors numbered 14,957, followed by 1,588 from the United Arab Emirates, 699 from Bahrain, 1,441 from Kuwait, and 779 from Qatar. Visitors from other Arab nationalities totalled 9,902.

Foreign nationals formed the largest segment of visitors, with 110,643 tourists, underscoring the destination’s rising international profile.

Al Jabal Al Akhdar continues to draw visitors year-round due to its moderate summer temperatures and cold winter climate. The availability of hotels, rest houses, and tourist lodges, alongside a calendar of events, has supported sustained tourism growth. The wilayat is also a key centre for eco-tourism and adventure tourism, offering activities such as valley walks, cave exploration, and mountain climbing, while providing visitors with opportunities to experience local culture in its mountain villages.
