MUSCAT: Oman’s Projects, Tenders and Local Content Authority has completed procedures to award a contract worth more than OMR 157 million for the expansion of the Muscat Expressway, according to an official announcement.
The authority said the project, valued at OMR 157,279,231.650, was approved in line with decisions taken by the Tender Board during its first meeting of 2026, held on February 19, 2026.
The expansion of the Muscat Expressway is part of broader infrastructure development initiatives aimed at improving traffic flow and strengthening transport connectivity across the capital region.
The Muscat Expressway serves as one of the main arterial roads in the Sultanate, linking key districts of Muscat and providing a vital alternative route to the Sultan Qaboos Highway. Authorities have previously highlighted the importance of upgrading major road corridors to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and support economic activity.
