MUSCAT : The Municipality has gathered detailed data on parking usage to develop sustainable solutions aimed at improving traffic flow and enhancing the overall road user experience.

The comprehensive traffic study assessed current usage patterns to implement measures for better organising parking across the city. Drone surveys covered a total distance of 1,152 kilometres, averaging six kilometres per survey, and were conducted daily from 7 am to 9 pm. Each site was surveyed up to 15 times per day, with data recorded every 15 minutes to ensure accurate occupancy tracking. These drone-based surveys analysed 4,855 parking spaces across up to 11 zones per site, with each location observed over a five-day period.

In addition, monitoring devices were used six days a week to survey 1,727 parking spaces, with 951 spaces in Al Khuwair and 776 spaces in Al Ghubrah. Data was captured every 15 minutes to provide precise indicators and usage analysis. Key locations included Al Khoudh Market, Seeb Market, Al Qurum Commercial Area, Al Khuwair, Al Ghubrah, Qurum Beach, Al Barakat Street, and Al Maha Street.
