MUSCAT: Oman Air has announced the launch of direct flights between Muscat and Tashkent, marking its entry into the Central Asian market as part of its ongoing international expansion.
The new service, set to commence on 1 June 2026, will operate twice weekly, providing seamless connectivity between the capitals of Oman and Uzbekistan. The route is the eighth new destination unveiled by the airline since December, underscoring its accelerated network growth strategy.
Tashkent, the capital and largest city of Uzbekistan, has emerged as a popular tourism hub known for its distinctive architecture, historic landmarks, vibrant culture and expansive parks. The route is expected to stimulate two-way tourism while strengthening bilateral business and cultural ties.
Strategically positioned along the ancient Silk Road, both Oman and Uzbekistan share rich historical legacies, offering travellers the opportunity to experience two culturally diverse yet historically interconnected destinations.
Con Korfiatis, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Air, said the new service reflects the airline’s commitment to sustainable network expansion.
“The launch of Tashkent reflects Oman Air’s continued focus on building a commercially sustainable network that balances point-to-point demand with strategic growth markets. Central Asia represents a region of increasing relevance for both inbound and outbound travel, and the new service is designed to support Oman’s broader tourism ambitions by attracting visitors from Uzbekistan and the wider region,” he said.
“We look forward to welcoming guests from Uzbekistan to experience Oman’s renowned hospitality, and to offering our guests seamless access to one of Central Asia’s most compelling destinations,” he added.
