WASHINGTON : The event was sponsored by Dr. Majid bin Hilal Al-Khalili, Executive Director of the Center, and witnessed the participation of Counselor Sabra Al-Houti, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Washington. The gathering forms part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to strengthen historical ties between Oman and the United States while promoting meaningful cross-cultural engagement.

Delivering the welcoming address, Heba Abdel Khaleq, Program Officer at SQCC, highlighted the importance of sustained dialogue and collaboration in fostering mutual respect between communities.

A key highlight of the evening was a presentation titled “A Sacred Trust,” which traced the humanitarian legacy of the Trust Center in Oman since 1891. The session underscored the institution’s pivotal role in building bridges of trust through dialogue initiatives and coexistence programmes. The presentation was delivered by Justin Myers, Executive Director of the Center, alongside Mohammed Ali Al Shuaili, Deputy Director.

The discussion also explored the historical milestones of the Al-Amana Center, charting its transformation from a provider of medical and educational services to a leading platform for interfaith dialogue. Today, the Center works closely with the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman to advance programmes that encourage understanding, cooperation and peaceful coexistence.

The evening concluded with an engaging discussion on the role of experiential learning in helping societies move beyond tolerance toward deeper mutual respect and reconciliation. An open dialogue with the audience followed, focusing on practical ways to promote these values in diverse international contexts.
