MUSCAT : Authorities announced on Monday that the crescent moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Shaaban for the year 1447 AH has been sighted.
As a result, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, will be observed as the first day of Shaaban, according to the official statement.
The sighting signals the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, which is expected to begin in February, subject to the sighting of the Ramadan crescent.
