Muscat – Muscat Court has issued a judgment against an establishment specialising in interior decoration works following a successful intervention by the Consumer Protection Authority. The case arose after a consumer entered into a contract with the firm for the installation of acrylic glass at a total cost of RO 462. Despite receiving the full payment in advance, the company failed to complete the specified works and subsequently refused to refund the amount to the client.

Following a thorough investigation into the complaint, the court convicted the establishment of its failure to uphold its contractual obligations. The judiciary imposed a total fine of RO 600 upon the firm and ordered it to cover all associated legal expenses. Furthermore, the civil claim has been referred to the competent civil court for further proceedings to ensure the consumer’s rights are fully reinstated.
