Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has issued an official safety warning to the public regarding a specific model of Xiaomi portable battery chargers found to be in breach of approved technical specifications. The alert concerns the Xiaomi 33W 20000mAh Power Bank with an integrated cable, identified as model PB2030MI. Following rigorous quality assessments, the Authority determined that these units pose a significant health and safety risk to users due to the potential for battery overheating, which may subsequently result in a fire hazard.

As part of its consumer safety mandate, the CPA has urged all individuals in possession of the affected product to cease using it immediately. Consumers are advised to check their device’s serial number via the manufacturer’s official online portal to confirm if their unit is subject to the recall. The Authority has coordinated with the company to ensure that affected customers can return the chargers and receive a full financial refund. Furthermore, the CPA reaffirmed its commitment to market surveillance, stating that inspections are ongoing across the Sultanate to ensure all such non-compliant products are removed from retail shelves.
