MUSCAT — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) have arrested five Asian individuals on suspicion of human trafficking after they allegedly lured a woman of the same nationality into forced labour and deprived her of her personal liberty and identification documents.
The ROP said the arrests were carried out by the Directorate General for Inquiries and Criminal Investigations, in coordination with the Special Tasks Police Unit in Al Qurum.
Police said that at the same location, 15 Asian women were also detained for violating labour and expatriate residency laws. Legal procedures are currently being completed against all those arrested.
