Madrid: Oman’s participation aims to highlight the latest developments in the Sultanate’s tourism sector, promote its diverse destinations and tourism products, and strengthen cooperation with Spanish and international tourism companies and institutions. The exhibition will bring together tourism bodies, hotel establishments, and strategic partners from around the world to discuss global tourism trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable development models.

According to Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, the Sultanate will use Fitur 2026 as a platform to hold meetings with key industry stakeholders, explore opportunities to increase tourist flows to Oman, and unveil new partnerships and promotional programmes in collaboration with strategic partners.

Haitham bin Mohammed Al Ghassani, official spokesperson for the ministry and Director General of Tourism Promotion, said Oman’s participation reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the development of its varied tourism assets by drawing on international expertise and experiences. He noted that building strong strategic partnerships is essential to strengthening the global presence of the Omani tourism product and boosting the sector’s competitiveness.

Al Ghassani added that Fitur’s significance lies in the wide range of tourism sectors it covers, as well as its focus on innovative tourism technologies that open new opportunities aligned with modern travel trends. He pointed out that tourism communication companies participating in the exhibition provide in-depth market studies and analyses, supporting future plans to better target and attract priority tourism markets to Oman. He also stressed the importance of encouraging local tourism companies to adopt best practices that ensure sustainable growth and long-term development.

Spain remains an important source market for Oman, with around 10,749 visitors arriving from the Kingdom of Spain between January and November 2025. Madrid’s role as a major global aviation hub, accounting for 16.5 per cent of air traffic and serving as a key link between Europe and Latin America, also enhances opportunities to attract Latin American tourists to the Middle East through Spanish tourism companies.
