MUSCAT : Eng. Aladdin Baitfadhil, Chief Executive Officer of Omantel, said the company has evolved into a national digital platform and an integrated regional technology group, offering a wide range of services spanning telecommunications, cloud computing, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data centres and enterprise solutions, in addition to supporting youth empowerment, innovation and entrepreneurship.
In statements to the Oman News Agency, Baitfadhil noted that Omantel’s acquisition of a strategic stake in Kuwait-based Zain Group has enhanced its regional footprint, expanding its presence to eight markets serving more than 54 million subscribers.

He said Omantel has demonstrated its readiness to keep pace with rapid global developments in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and the Internet of Things, enabling the Sultanate to strengthen its position on the global digital economy map and attract high-quality investments that support its role as a regional hub for data and communications.
Highlighting key achievements, the CEO said 2025 marked several milestones, including the launch of advanced 5G services, making Omantel the first operator in Oman to introduce the technology and enhance network readiness for next-generation digital applications. He added that the company recorded its strongest financial and operational performance, with revenues reaching approximately RO 2.29 billion by the end of September 2025 and net profits of RO 243.4 million. The contribution of subsidiaries to group revenues also rose to 22 per cent, compared to 9 per cent in 2018.
Baitfadhil said international connectivity remains a strategic pillar for Omantel, positioning Oman at the centre of global data traffic and turning its geographic location into a digital advantage. Supported by partnerships with leading global technology and telecommunications firms, Omantel has become the most connected operator to submarine cable systems in the Middle East, benefiting from more than 20 submarine cables linking Oman to over 120 cities in 50 countries across three continents.
He added that neutral data centres in Muscat and Salalah have become a core component of the national digital infrastructure, hosting content for more than 40 international companies, supporting cloud services, enhancing cybersecurity, and strengthening Oman’s readiness to attract digital investments.
The Omantel CEO stressed that the company plays a central role in advancing digital sovereignty in the Sultanate, in line with the national digital transformation strategy, through the development of integrated national infrastructure, local data hosting, skilled national competencies, and robust cybersecurity and digital governance frameworks.
