Muscat – Ibn Firnas Drone Center announced the inauguration of the first specialised drone exhibition hall in Oman, marking a culmination of the centre’s efforts to support innovation and modern technologies and enhance the drone ecosystem.

The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Nasser bin Sulaiman al Harthi, Acting Vice Chairman for Operations at the Oman Investment Authority (OIA), in the presence of a distinguished group of specialists and enthusiasts in the fields of drones, aerial photography, and visual creativity.

The specialised drone exhibition hall represents an integrated space that combines technical showcases, hands-on experience, and specialised knowledge. It serves as a meeting point for professionals, hobbyists, and enthusiasts in the world of drones, and as a supportive environment for exchanging expertise and knowledge building.

The hall showcases the latest drone technologies and enhances awareness of the various applications of drones in photography, industry, and services. It also supports knowledge-based purchasing decisions through experience and guidance.

The exhibition hall also contributes to creating an educational and interactive space that serves the technological and creative community. It aims to enable users to explore diverse drone solutions and technologies, support local innovation, link technology with practical application, contribute to regulating the drone market in line with approved standards, and enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a promising hub for modern technologies.

The hall displays various models of drones and their accessories, along with professional solutions for aerial photography and specialised uses, in addition to informative and educational content on relevant regulations, laws, and technologies. It also provides space for interaction, consultation, and knowledge-building for users and enthusiasts.

On the sidelines of the drone hall inauguration, the closing ceremony of the first edition of the “Firnas Lens” competition was held, with around 250 participants taking part. The competition is organised as part of the centre’s efforts to celebrate creative talents, highlight the role of aerial photography in showcasing the beauty of the Sultanate of Oman, and support the tourism sector by documenting natural and architectural beauty through professional visual storytelling.

The “Firnas Lens” competition is a specialised creative initiative in aerial photography launched by Ibn Firnas Drone Center, aiming to showcase the beauty of the Sultanate of Oman from a modern visual perspective and provide a professional platform that brings together aerial photography enthusiasts, professionals, and content creators under one umbrella.

The competition includes two categories: aerial videography and aerial photography, in line with the applicable laws and regulations in the Sultanate of Oman and with artistic standards that promote quality and innovation.

The competition aims to support national talents in aerial photography and content creation, encourage creative and responsible use of drones, document Oman’s natural and architectural landmarks, contribute to tourism and cultural promotion, and build an integrated community for drone and aerial photography enthusiasts.

On this occasion, Mohammed bin Abdullah al Harthi, Chief Executive Officer of Ibn Firnas Drone Center, said:

“The inauguration of the specialised exhibition hall represents a strategic step within the centre’s vision to enhance the drone ecosystem in the Sultanate of Oman, link innovation with practical application, and provide an integrated environment that supports users, creators, and entrepreneurs — contributing to building an organised and sustainable market based on knowledge and adherence to approved standards.”

He added that the “Firnas Lens” competition is an extension of the centre’s mission to empower national talents, confirming the centre’s aspiration for “Firnas Lens” to become an annual reference platform for aerial photography in Oman, and a bridge that links visual creativity, modern technology, and Omani identity.

Ibn Firnas Drone Center is also working on building partnerships with authorised distributors as part of establishing an integrated drone ecosystem that combines quality, reliability, and technical support — serving end-users and enhancing the sector’s sustainability.

These partnerships aim to provide original and certified products according to the highest standards, ensure a reliable and safe user experience, support the local market with advanced technological solutions, and enhance integration between technical and commercial entities.

Such partnerships are key to increasing confidence in the drone market, facilitating access to cutting-edge technologies and services, supporting the organised and sustainable growth of the drone community, and creating shared value between distributors, users, and the sector as a whole.

It is worth noting that Ibn Firnas Drone Center is the exclusive and sole distributor in the Sultanate of Oman for DJI, the global leader in drone technology, which holds more than 80% of the global market share in this sector due to its advanced technologies and innovative solutions that serve both professional and recreational uses.
