UAE – General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates has officially announced the commencement of exceptional flight operations across national airports to assist passengers stranded by recent regional developments. This strategic move is designed to enable affected travellers to depart in accordance with specific schedules to be coordinated and announced by individual airlines. In an effort to avoid congestion and ensure orderly processing at terminals, the GCAA has issued a strict directive urging passengers not to proceed to airports until they have been directly contacted by their respective airlines with confirmed flight timings.
Major national carriers, Emirates and flydubai, have confirmed they will begin operating a limited number of services from the evening of March 2. Emirates has stated that priority will be given to customers with earlier bookings and that rebooked passengers will be contacted directly. Similarly, flydubai has advised its customers to update their contact details via the “Manage Your Booking” portal and to verify their flight status on the official website before attempting to travel to the airport. The GCAA expressed its appreciation for the cooperation of the travelling public, noting that adherence to these instructions is central to facilitating smooth procedures during this recovery phase.
