WASHINGTON : Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi attended the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace Council in Washington at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, Oman’s Foreign Ministry said.
The minister participated in the meeting as an observer, the ministry said in a statement posted on X, adding that the gathering brought together a number of heads of state and government, senior officials from member states, and representatives of invited countries.
Discussions focused on the council’s general vision and its action plan for the coming phase, particularly in the context of reconstruction efforts in the Gaza Strip. Several participating parties announced voluntary financial and in-kind contributions to support humanitarian recovery efforts and help restore safe living conditions for residents, the statement said.
Oman’s participation aligns with its longstanding approach of supporting efforts to achieve peace through dialogue, upholding the right to self-determination and respect for international law and United Nations resolutions calling for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, the ministry added.
