MUSCAT : The workshop, organised by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), began in Muscat today.
The workshop reviews the requirements and objectives of emergency planning adopted by the ICAO, working mechanism of the ICAO Crisis Coordination Team and the experiences of ME adjoining regions, namely Asia and the Pacific.
The workshop will deal with the new emergency framework for managing air traffic in ICAO regions, with emphasis on cross-border coordination, emergency plans among neighbouring countries and regions, automated connectivity, information exchange and operational challenges. It also seeks ways to achieve the goals of ICAO Project 30/10—which aims to cut down longitudinal distances between flights crossing regions.
This workshop is in pursuance of the Air Traffic Management (ATM) coordination meeting held in Muscat from 1 to 3 February 2026.
