MUSCAT : Two Omani women have died after drowning in a water pool within a wadi channel in the Wilayat of Ibri in Al Dhahirah Governorate, authorities said on Thursday.

The Search and Rescue Sector said the incident occurred when one of the women attempted to rescue the other after she fell into the water.

Both were later recovered from the site but were found to have succumbed, the authority said.

The incident comes amid ongoing unstable weather conditions across parts of Oman, where recent rainfall has led to overflowing wadis and hazardous conditions in low-lying areas.
