MUSCAT: Oman’s Public Prosecution has issued a warning against the misuse of fireworks and illegal vehicle modifications that disturb public order, stressing that strict legal measures will be taken against violators.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Public Prosecution said authorities had recently observed several individuals using fireworks in residential neighbourhoods. Officials also noted cases where drivers had installed vehicle exhaust systems that do not comply with approved technical specifications.
According to the statement, such modifications result in excessively loud and disturbing noises that cause inconvenience to residents and disrupt public tranquillity.
The Public Prosecution said these practices constitute violations of Article 25 of the Weapons and Ammunition Law, as well as Articles 49 (5) and 49 (7) of the Traffic Law.
Authorities emphasised that they are committed to taking firm legal action against those responsible, referring offenders to the courts and seeking the maximum penalties stipulated by law.
The Public Prosecution urged the public to adhere to regulations and avoid behaviours that threaten public safety or disturb the peace of residential communities.
