MUSCAT : The projects included the construction of new electrical substations, the upgrading of existing stations, and the implementation of power feeders of various voltages.

These projects come within Nama Electricity Distribution Company’s plans aimed at enhancing the reliability and expansion of the electrical grid to keep pace with the requirements of urban and economic growth across the governorate’s wilayats.

Eng. Yousuf Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Head of Technical Affairs at Nama Electricity Distribution Company, confirmed that these projects are part of the development plans implemented by the company to enhance grid efficiency and increase its capacity. This aligns with the rapid urban expansion and population growth witnessed in the wilayats of Nakhal, Barka, and A’Rustaq.

In a statement to Oman News Agency, Al Mahrouqi said that the company is keen on executing its projects according to approved schedules while maintaining full commitment to quality and operational safety standards. He noted that these projects contribute to strengthening the stability of the electrical grid and improving the quality of supply for subscribers across various sectors.

He added that the most prominent projects implemented included the construction of a 2×20 MVA main substation in the Wilayat of Nakhal, featuring 33 kV and 11 kV feeders. Furthermore, a project for 33 kV electrical feeders was executed from the Barka Network Station to the Khazaen Substation in the Wilayat of Barka. In the Wilayat of A’Rustaq, Al Tikha Substation was upgraded from a capacity of 1×6 MVA to 2×6 MVA at 33/11 kV, and Al Marji Substation was established with a capacity of 2×6 MVA, along with the implementation of 33 kV and 11 kV feeders to supply both Al Washil and Al Marji substations. The works also included the construction of the Wadi Bani Awf 132/33 kV grid station, specifically the distribution section at 33 kV.

The Head of Technical Affairs at Nama Electricity Distribution Company explained that these projects contribute to raising the efficiency of the electrical grid and enhancing supply reliability in South Al Batinah Governorate, thereby supporting economic and urban development and responding to the increasing growth needs in the governorate’s wilayats.
