Bank Muscat inaugurates lighting project of Nakhal Youth Team under “Green Sports” programme

MUSCAT : Bank Muscat, the leading financial services provider in the Sultanate of Oman, recently announced the inauguration of a lighting project of Nakhal Youth Sports and Cultural Team Wilayat Nakhal, South Al Batinah Governorate. The event was held under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed Suleiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, and attended by Adnan Ahmed Al Balushi, acting Regional Manager of Bank Muscat branches in Al Batinah South, along with members of the team’s management, players, and local residents. The event forms part of a series of celebrations organized by the Bank to mark the completion of projects delivered under its “Green Sports” programme, which supports community sports teams across the Sultanate.

Speaking on the occasion, Adnan Ahmed Al Balushi, acting Regional Manager of Bank Muscat branches in Al Batinah South, expressed pride in the programme’s continued leadership in community development. He said: “The new lighting project will enable Nakhal Youth Team to make full use of its field throughout the day and evening, significantly enhancing the sporting and social activities hosted at the venue. The “Green Sports” programme underscores the Bank’s ongoing commitment to empowering young people by improving community sports facilities in their local areas, reflecting Bank Muscat’s broader vision of investing in society as a whole.”

From his part, Anwer Khalfan Al Sedi, Head of Nakhal Youth Sports and Cultural Team expressed his appreciation for the Bank’s support, stating: “The completion of the lighting project marks an important milestone for the team. The upgrade will provide players with greater opportunities to train and compete in a well-equipped environment. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Bank Muscat for its trust and continued backing of youth and sports initiatives.”

Abdullah Said Al Hadhrami who is a team member also highlighted the positive impact of the new lighting project, noting that evening activities can now be organized more effectively. This development is expected to encourage wider youth participation in the team’s regular programmes and events.

Bank Muscat recently announced the opening of registration for the 2026 edition of the “Green Sports” programme. Applications will be accepted until 8th of March 2026, with support to be awarded to 20 sports teams. Interested community teams can apply via the programme’s online platform https://bm.click/GSR. Team administrators may also contact the programme management directly for inquiries at [email protected] or by calling 24801200 / 24801625. Since its launch, the “Green Sports” programme has supported 223 community sports teams, benefiting more than 77,000 members. These figures reflect the programme’s sustained success and its meaningful contribution to the development of Omani youth and the wider community.
