MUSCAT : Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), through the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, has forecast continued unstable weather conditions across several parts of the Sultanate tonight, with heavy thunderstorms, hail and strong downdraft winds expected to persist.
According to the latest weather update issued on March 25, the ongoing atmospheric instability is likely to bring significant rainfall activity to North and South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah, Muscat, and parts of North and South Al Sharqiyah governorates.
Authorities said the weather system may be accompanied by hailstorms and active winds due to convective cloud formations, increasing the risk of flash flooding in wadis and low-lying areas.
The forecast indicates a relative improvement in conditions on Thursday, with a gradual easing of the weather system. However, there remains a chance of scattered thundershowers of varying intensity across parts of Musandam, Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah, some of which could still be accompanied by hail.
Intermittent rainfall is also expected over Muscat, South Al Batinah, Al Dakhiliyah and parts of North and South Al Sharqiyah, as well as isolated areas in Dhofar.
The overall impact level of the weather system has been classified as “low to moderate,” authorities said, urging residents to follow official advisories and monitor updates through the meteorology website and official social media platforms.
