MUSCAT : Oman’s Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources will begin opening the gates of dams where water levels have exceeded 75% of storage capacity, according to a statement issued on Wednesday.
The ministry said the step is intended to maximise the benefit of accumulated water by enhancing groundwater recharge and creating additional capacity to receive further inflows.
Authorities noted that controlled releases will help feed underground aquifers while ensuring dams can safely accommodate more water amid ongoing weather conditions.
