MUSCAT: Oman’s National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre has warned of heavy thunderstorms expected to affect several governorates across the Sultanate starting Saturday, accompanied by hail and strong downdraft winds.
According to official forecasts, the unstable weather conditions are linked to active convective cloud formations, which are likely to bring intense rainfall in multiple regions.
The impact is expected to extend across Al Buraimi, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah, Al Dakhiliyah and Muscat, in addition to parts of North and South Al Sharqiyah.
Authorities said the thunderstorms may be accompanied by hailstorms and active winds, which could lead to reduced visibility and localized disruptions.
Residents have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying areas and wadis, and to follow updates issued by official channels as the situation develops.
