Oman import price index rises 14.8% in Q4 2025, machinery and transport equipment see sharpest increase

MUSCAT – Statistics show that machinery and transport equipment experienced the highest annual increase at 39.4 percent, followed by chemicals and related materials at 9.6 percent and vegetable and animal oils, fats, and waxes at 9.3 percent. Miscellaneous manufactured goods rose by 4.3 percent, while beverages and tobacco increased 3.3 percent.
Conversely, some categories recorded declines. Mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials dropped 8.6 percent, manufactured goods classified chiefly by material fell 4.9 percent, and inedible raw materials, excluding fuels decreased 0.2 percent. The food and live animals’ category remained stable.
On a quarterly basis, import prices edged up 0.6 percent compared to Q3 2025. The largest quarterly increases were seen in chemicals and related materials (18.4 percent), machinery and transport equipment (15.4 percent), miscellaneous manufactured articles (10.4 percent), and vegetable and animal oils, fats, and waxes (8.9 percent). Manufactured goods classified chiefly by material rose 6.9 percent, and inedible raw materials, excluding fuels increased 3.4 percent.
Meanwhile, beverages and tobacco fell 16.4 percent, mineral fuels and lubricants dropped 15.3 percent, and food and live animals declined 2.2 percent.
