MUSCAT – Air India and Air India Express will continue operating scheduled passenger services to Oman, with multiple flights to Muscat planned for March 13, even as operations across parts of the wider West Asia region remain affected by prevailing conditions.
According to a media statement issued on Thursday, the two airlines will jointly operate 78 scheduled and non-scheduled flights to and from the West Asia region, with Oman remaining one of the destinations where regular services are continuing.
Air India Express is scheduled to operate 12 flights to and from Muscat, connecting the Omani capital with several major Indian cities including Delhi, Kannur, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram, ensuring continued travel links between Oman and India.
The airline group said Muscat remains among the few regional destinations where scheduled operations are proceeding normally, while many other airports in the Gulf region are seeing limited or special operations due to operational considerations and slot availability.
In addition to Oman services, the airline group will operate scheduled flights to Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, including services from Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad, while a number of ad-hoc or non-scheduled flights are planned to destinations in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia subject to regulatory approvals.
The airlines said a total of 60 additional non-scheduled flights may operate to airports such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Riyadh depending on operational conditions at departure stations.
Air India added that passengers booked on routes where scheduled services remain temporarily suspended will be offered free rebooking to future travel dates or full refunds.
The airline group also confirmed that long-haul flights to North America, Europe and Australia continue to operate as scheduled, while it continues to monitor the regional situation and explore additional flight opportunities where feasible.
For travellers in Oman, the continued operation of flights to Muscat provides a key air link for thousands of passengers travelling between the Sultanate and India, particularly during the busy pre-Eid travel period.
