MUSCAT : The achievement represents a significant milestone in the hospital’s journey toward institutional excellence. The hospital had previously earned Gold-level accreditation in 2016 and 2019, before advancing to the Platinum level in 2023, which has now been successfully renewed for a second consecutive cycle in 2026. The progression highlights the sustained development of its clinical, administrative, and operational systems.

Platinum accreditation is awarded following a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation process that assesses a wide range of international healthcare standards. These include clinical governance, risk management, patient safety, leadership efficiency, continuity of care, performance measurement, and patient experience, as well as the integration of medical specialties and adherence to evidence-based medical practices.
Speaking to Oman News Agency, Dr. Ahmed bin Khamis Al-Araimi, Director of the Royal Hospital, said the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the hospital’s medical, nursing, technical, and administrative teams.
He noted that quality has become an integral part of the hospital’s daily practice and emphasized that maintaining Platinum status demonstrates that excellence is not a one-time achievement but a sustained institutional commitment.
Dr. Al-Araimi added that patient safety and healthcare quality remain strategic priorities guiding all clinical and operational processes within the hospital. He also highlighted that the achievement strengthens public confidence in the specialised and referral services provided by the hospital.
The hospital continues to advance its digital infrastructure, improve medical supply chain efficiency, strengthen the readiness of specialised teams, and expand professional training and accreditation programmes, ensuring its systems remain aligned with evolving global healthcare standards.
Meanwhile, Dr. Suad bint Salem Al-Ismailia, Senior Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care and Director of the Quality and Patient Safety Department at the Royal Hospital, said the accreditation followed rigorous on-site reviews and evaluation meetings involving multiple departments and healthcare services.
She explained that attaining the Platinum level reflects the effectiveness of the hospital’s quality and patient safety framework, including the implementation of evidence-based policies, proactive risk management, and a strong culture of incident reporting and analysis.
Dr. Al-Ismailia also highlighted the hospital’s commitment to involving patients and their families as active partners in the care process, an approach that further strengthens the quality of healthcare delivery.
She stressed that maintaining this level of accreditation requires continuous investment in digital transformation, clinical data analysis, and regular monitoring of performance indicators, alongside fostering a workplace culture built on transparency, accountability, and innovation.
