MUSCAT : Total refinery production in the Sultanate of Oman recorded a slight decline of 0.4 percent by the end of January 2026, while motor gasoline production rose 2.7 percent during the month compared with December 2025, according to preliminary statistics released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The data showed mixed trends across refined petroleum products, with notable increases in premium gasoline, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) output, while jet fuel and some other refinery products registered declines.
Production of regular gasoline (91) fell by 17.1 percent to 1.352 million barrels by the end of January 2026, compared with 1.630 million barrels in the same period of 2025. Sales also slipped 1 percent to 1.363 million barrels, while exports declined 12 percent to 415,400 barrels, compared with 472,100 barrels a year earlier.
In contrast, production of premium gasoline (95) surged 59 percent, reaching 1.569 million barrels, compared with 987,400 barrels during the same period in 2025. Sales increased 9.5 percent to 1.254 million barrels, up from 1.145 million barrels in the corresponding period last year.
Diesel (gas oil) production rose 3.5 percent to 6.677 million barrels, compared with 6.452 million barrels in January 2025. Sales increased 5.2 percent to 1.573 million barrels, while exports jumped 16.7 percent, reaching 5.943 million barrels compared with 5.093 million barrels a year earlier.
Meanwhile, jet fuel production declined 5.8 percent to 2.689 million barrels, compared with 2.854 million barrels during the same period in 2025. Sales fell 9.6 percent to 382,200 barrels, while exports dropped 4.4 percent to 2.461 million barrels.
Production of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased 9 percent, reaching 1.075 million barrels compared with 986,700 barrels in the same period of 2025. LPG sales rose 7.5 percent to 368,900 barrels, while exports climbed 18.8 percent to 353,600 barrels.
Production of naphtha recorded a slight rise of 0.4 percent, reaching 3.420 million barrels, compared with 3.405 million barrels during the same period last year. However, sales declined 6.1 percent to 1.271 million barrels, while exports fell 4 percent to 2.304 million barrels.
Output of other refinery products dropped 15.5 percent to 2.933 million barrels, compared with 3.472 million barrels during the same period of 2025. Sales declined 15.9 percent to 2.584 million barrels, though exports increased 12.9 percent to 1.010 million barrels.
In the petrochemicals sector, gasoline production rose to 17,800 metric tonnes, compared with 14,900 tonnes a year earlier. Production of paraxylene also increased to 53,500 tonnes, up from 40,000 tonnes in January 2025.
However, polypropylene production declined 20.8 percent to 26,400 tonnes, compared with 33,400 tonnes during the same period last year. Despite the drop in production, polypropylene sales surged 550.7 percent to 2,600 tonnes, up from 400 tonnes in January 2025.
On the export front, gasoline exports rose 20 percent to 15,000 metric tonnes, while paraxylene exports increased 54.2 percent to 55,600 tonnes. In contrast, polypropylene exports declined 3.8 percent to 19,600 tonnes, compared with 20,400 tonnes a year earlier.
